Confessions of a Workaholic!

12 years, 168 days ago

In todays’ society where work/life balance is the constant flavour of the month this kind of thinking can be frowned upon. Don’t get me wrong, I spend an extraordinary amount of time with my family and love every minute; my 9 year old has perfected the art of hole punching – an indisputably needed life skill! But the reason my brain is a constant whirlwind of work-related activity, well, that’s simple: I love my job.

For many, the nine-to-five has become little more than a necessary evil, undertaken through a work to live philosophy. In the currently less than perfect economic climate can anyone really be blamed for the ‘any job will do’ mentality?

Have we lost our way? Spending on average a whopping 1/3 of your life working it makes sense to get a fair amount of enjoyment out of your career. So how do you ensure that each morning you jump from your bed with a frenzied desire to get to work.

At LaytonAndrews we take pride in, in fact we love, hearing about you, we want to know what drives you, what gives you a buzz and what shapes your ambitions for the future.

I’m a workaholic and proud of it! I love that there are so many interesting people to meet, I love the difference LaytonAndrews can make, but first and foremost I love the daily challenge of reproducing what I feel for my career for my candidates in theirs.

If a new career is on your agenda for 2013 engage a consultant that understands your market and more importantly understands you.

To coin a great quote from Confucius ‘Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life’.
